How to choose

Short ducts: the low ESP FXDQ (class 15–63) for short duct runs in hotel rooms, small offices and homes.
Medium runs: with longer ducts, the medium ESP FXSQ; it has the widest class range, from 15 to 140.
Long ducts and large spaces: the high ESP FXMQ for shops, corridors and large areas; FXMQ200A and FXMQ250 reach 22.4 and 28.0 kW.
Duct design: calculate duct, grille and filter losses and check the pressure available from the selected model in the Daikin technical data.

How to write it in a quote

Include the ESP class in the line: “Daikin VRV FXSQ63A medium ESP ducted indoor unit, class 63, 7.1 kW nominal cooling”. List ductwork, grilles, plenums and the controller as separate lines and state clearly whether duct installation is in scope.

What is ESP?

External static pressure: the pressure the fan can deliver to overcome the resistance of ducts, grilles and filters. Longer ducts and more bends need an indoor unit with higher ESP.

Should I choose FXDQ or FXSQ?

For short duct runs the low ESP FXDQ is sufficient. If the ducts are longer or you need more than class 63, choose the medium ESP FXSQ (up to class 140).

Which is the largest ducted VRV indoor unit?

The largest model in the list is the high ESP FXMQ250: class 250, 28.0 kW nominal cooling.

How does capacity class relate to kW?

The class is the number in the model code. For example, class 50 is given as 5.6 kW, class 100 as 11.2 kW and class 125 as 14.0 kW nominal cooling.
