Accessories
Versions
- 5453 standard (545305–545309): basic model with female connections; the 1 1/2" and 2" sizes, with 4.3 and 6 m³/h max. flow, cover larger circuits.
- 5453 with ball valves (545345–545347): built-in shut-off valves mean the circuit does not have to be drained for cleaning.
- 5453 with filters (545375–545377): designed for complete flushing of the circuit to protect the boiler and its components. Two stainless steel mesh filters are supplied: the blue one for initial cleaning is fitted, the grey one for maintenance is in the pack. Brass shut-off valves with nuts are included.
- 5457 DIRTMAGPRO (545702–545707): magnets in the outer ring plus a quadruple magnet in the centre of the body create a double magnetic field; the large settling chamber lengthens cleaning intervals and it suits flow velocities up to 1.6 m/s.
How to choose
- Match the connection size to the boiler return pipe; in copper installations the Ø 22 and Ø 28 compression models of 5457 need no adaptors.
- When a new boiler is connected to an old system, choose 545375–545377 with the initial cleaning filter.
- In systems that also cool, add the CBN insulation shells as separate lines.
How to write it in a quote
State series, version and size: "Caleffi 545376 DIRTMAG magnetic dirt separator with filter 1", technopolymer body, with shut-off valves, 3 bar". Put the insulation shell (e.g. CBN545305) on its own line; the accessory table shows which shell fits which code.
FAQ
What does a magnetic dirt separator do?
It collects sand, sludge and ferrous magnetite circulating in the system in its settling chamber and around the magnet, protecting the pump, heat exchanger and boiler components from these particles.
What is the difference between DIRTMAG and DIRTMAGPRO?
DIRTMAGPRO 5457 has a quadruple magnet in the centre of the body in addition to the magnets in the outer ring, and a larger settling chamber. It is designed for higher capacities and flow velocities up to 1.6 m/s.
How is the collected dirt drained from DIRTMAGPRO?
Stop the circulation, remove the magnet rod and the magnet ring, then open the drain cock to flush out the dirt. The hose connection lets you lead the water straight to a drain.
Can it be fitted on a vertical pipe?
Yes. All models can be adjusted for horizontal and vertical pipes; the 5453 models with ball valves or filters can also be installed at 45°.
